Abramovich Renting Out His Insane Yacht… For $2 Million A Week

You too, can now live like a Russian oligarch! Roman Abramovich’s outrageous 536-foot-long yacht, Eclipse, is now available for rentals. It’ll cost you about $2 million a week though, according to the folks at Haute Living. Darn.

Eclipse is the world’s largest private yacht, complete with dozens of guest rooms, a disco hall, a submarine and tons of other luxurious features. The boat also has an absolutely insane “anti-paparazzi shield,” which involves a laser sensor that checks the surroundings for electric charges emitted by cameras. Cue the jaw drop now.

But while a week will cost you an official $2 million, there are obviously more costs to consider. For starters, a fuel fill-up costs an estimated $650,000 – so if you want to keep that cost at bay, well, you’d better not plan on traveling too far.

With around $13.4 billion in his pocket, it might seem like Abramovich hardly needs to worry about renting out his ship for profit, but given the exorbitant costs associated with the yacht’s upkeep, it’s pretty understandable. On top of the fuel price (can’t you just imagine that conversation at the fueling dock – “cash or credit, sir?”), upkeep costs an estimated $50 million a year. And Abramovich did spend a heck of a lot buying it in the first place. Haute Living says he paid $485 million for the yacht after negotiations, but Mogulite has seen reports that it cost $590 million or $1.2 billion.

In any event, it’s a pricey ship.
