Ali Wentworth Was Proposed To In Most Horrifying Way Imaginable

When it comes to marriage proposals, men often get creative. Comedian Jay Baruchel popped the question to Alison Pill by basically saying, “S— or get off the pot. F— it, will you marry me?” Many guys enjoy proposing at large sporting events. But “It’s Complicated” actress Ali Wentworth’s proposal experience is hands down the craziest we’ve ever heard.

Though she’s happily married to ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos now, Wentworth was once engaged to another guy. During an appearance on Jay Leno’s show, Wentworth recalled the peculiar and completely unromantic manner in which her former live-in boyfriend “Josh” asked for her hand in marriage.

When she came home one day, Josh said he was worried he had a polyp and that Wentworth needed to examine his rear end. A reluctant Wentworth, who claims to have been brought up in an uptight household, was hesitant to look at his orifice, but did so anyway and found something much better and (we hope) prettier than a polyp:

“So he put down a towel, and he’s naked, and he laid down on his stomach. And I, very gingerly and in a very elegant way, parted his buttocks and reached in…and I pulled out a diamond ring. And he said ‘Will you marry me?’ I said, ‘Of course I’ll marry you!’”

Shockingly, their wedding didn’t pan out, but we’re pretty sure that’s a good thing. Even so, we’re dying to know how Stephanopoulos went about the proposal. It’s probably safe to say the hard news man took a much more conventional approach.
