Alicyn Packard, Actress From Belvedere’s Rape Ad, Sues

Remember that Belvedere vodka ad that made a joke about rape? (How could you forget?) Turns out the actress in the ad didn’t give the company permission to use her image. And now she’s suing.
As you may recall, late last month Belvedere vodka posted an ad on its Facebook page that read “Unlike some people Belvedere always goes down smoothly.” A woman is pictured in the ad looking (in my view, inarguably) terrified. It’s an ugly ad.
And now, in a turn of events that should surprise few given the shady nature of the ad, it seems that the image in the ad wasn’t authorized, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Not surprisingly, the actress in the image, Alicyn Packard (whom the Reporter says is “best known for voicing characters for the Cartoon Network”) isn’t pleased — and she’s suing.
The lawsuit argues that Packard has “now been unwillingly made the face of the Belvedere advertising campaign that jokes about rape, and has been put front and center in the worldwide controversy” ensuing from the ad. Can’t say we blame her for being ticked.
