Amy Sedaris Was Charming As All Get-Out on Last Night’s Letterman

If you live in New York (like myself), Los Angeles, or Dallas, Time Warner Cable has pulled CBS and subsidiaries of CBS Corporations from your TV box. So, for weeks now, you have been unable to access Showtime and The Movie Channel or watch your favorite CBS shows. (*RIMSHOT* No one has favorite CBS shows! Your grandmother probably did, once, but now she thinks that her TV is an icebox and keeps telling you about how she is circumventing the lard ration, so you doubt that she is upset that Time Warner took away The Mentalist. Old people, why you gotta be so old, amirite?) If you’re anything like me, things are becoming more fraught as the Homeland premiere date inches ever closer — the thought of missing even one moment of Mandy Patinkin has me crying like Carrie.
Just as I was beginning to think that CBS had devolved into a post-apocalyptic wasteland where Kat Dennings is a ruthless and determined ruler of a seedy outpost in which conflicts are resolved by duels to the death, I received a missive from the other side: Amy Sedaris’ appearance on Letterman last night. According to this video, things are exactly the same, blackout or no: Amy Sedaris is incredibly delightful and hilarious; she wears beautiful, flouncy skirts that call to mind a quirkier June Cleaver; and David Letterman can tolerate a good ribbing. Things are alright in the CBS world. No one has been killed in a gladiatorial arena. The half-man of Two and a Half Men hasn’t formed a nomadic tribe of feral child who covet their ephemeral memories of a cable past and dream to form a “Tomorrow-morrow Network.” …Allegedly.
