Props To Ann Curry For Fleeing To California After Painful Final Broadcast

Sometimes the best thing to do upon getting emotionally bulldozed is travel as far away as possible. That appears to be the solution of choice for former Today anchor Ann Curry, who delivered a heart-wrenching farewell message on Thursday and made me want to give her the longest hug in history. Immediately after saying goodbye on live television, she reportedly booked it for the airport for a friend’s wedding in the Golden State.

“The minute she was finished, she was out of that building,” an insider told the New York Post. Though I’d like to believe the anticipation of sunny California would boost her spirits, another source told the publication that Curry cried on the way to the west coast. Here’s to hoping good ol’ Cali perked her up. IMO, it’s the happiest portion of the country, and hopefully the people there welcomed Curry with warmth, unlike smug Matt Lauer.

The Post reports that Curry will be back at the network in several weeks to assume her new role as Today anchor at large and NBC News national and international correspondent. Before she prepares to cover the Olympics as well as other big stories, I want her to chill out, unplug, and eat lots of burritos in California. One of the few upsides of her highly publicized ousting is that she can enjoy herself in a much calmer place for a little while.

I wonder how long it will take until Lauer gets tired of Savannah Guthrie.

You know, I never really liked Matt Lauer. He rubbed me the wrong way. I always saw him as fake, disingenuous. Maybe he’s the problem?

Yep, living well is the best revenge.  Ann Curry was much too human for this lot.  Matt Lauer has become (if he wasn’t already) much too full of himself.  I am not impressed.  And not impressed with NBC for treating Ms. Curry so badly.  They only hurt themselves.
