No Kidding: Schwarzenegger Says Affair Was ‘Stupidest Thing I’ve Ever Done’
9:30 am, September 28th | by Laura Donovan
Many of us are still wondering how former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger won an election and carried out two terms without revelations of his affair, which resulted in the birth of a child, ever leaking to the press. Even though he kept the secret behind closed doors until his divorce, the ex-movie star still says his relationship with former housekeeper Mildred “Patty” Baena was the dumbest thing he’s ever done in his life. Ya think?
“I think it was the stupidest thing I’ve done in the whole relationship. It was terrible. I inflicted tremendous pain on Maria and unbelievable pain on the kids,” Schwarzenegger said during a “60 Minutes” interview, which is set to air in full Sunday, in promotion of new autobiography, “Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story.”
In spring 2011, Schwarzenegger and then-wife Maria Shriver separated after 25 years of marriage. A week later, the Los Angeles Times reported that the celebrity had fathered a child with Baena almost fourteen years earlier.
“After leaving the governor’s office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago,” Schwarzenegger said in a statement last year.
Good luck forgiving yourself for that move.
