4 Shocking And Sexist Magazine Covers Of Women In Politics

Great Britain is facing some political trouble — so who does the New Republic magazine exploit to relay this information to the world? Duchess of Cambridge Catherine, who appears to have decaying teeth on the July 12 issue of the publication as a symbol of the dark times Britain is currently experiencing. We’re not sure why the mag chose to publish an insulting doctored photo of the royal to get its point across, but we’re not happy about it. Here are other offensive and sexist magazine covers that have been really demeaning to women in politics.

Laura is usually on the money, but might be redefining the word “sexist” here, or trying to get cheap pageviews? The only one here that qualifies as sexist is the Sarah Palin one.

Throwing around the word “sexist” where it doesn’t even count is almost as annoying as race baiting. Judith Miller last weekend accused Chris Christie of being “sexist” because he yelled at one female reporter. Umm, how about the other hundred male reporters he has yelled at? There is a huge difference between being a jerk and being sexist.

It’s not cool to cry wolf.

Haha thanks for saying I’m usually on the money! The Hillary Clinton and Bachmann covers are incredibly sexist. They try to make the candidates seem crazy by using less than appealing photographs. There’s a reason why we use “sexist” and “shocking” in the title.

As for Christie, I don’t think he was sexist for yelling at a female reporter. He goes off on a lot of people regardless of gender.

I tried so hard to see the sexism but couldn’t. Maybe the Palin picture was sexist but the other ones weren’t. Is it always sexism if you make fun of a female candidate? It’s funny how no one ever talks about sexism when there’s a funny picture of a male candidate.

” They try to make the candidates seem crazy by using less than appealing photographs. ”

That’s true. But how is it sexist? Surely they could do the same to a male candidate. Do you understand what the word sexism means?

I dont see much sexism here.

Laura, you need to step up your writing game. Poor article

how is Kate Middleton a politician?

Women in the political realm. Not necessary politicians. Michelle Obama is a woman in the political world but she is not a politician.

Do what you do best….writing about women and business and the struggles they face.

I actually like many of your articles and Janedough, despite being a man. To be honest, the Janedough opened my eyes to some certain struggles women face.

I myself write articles concerning business.

    Laura
Maybe you should brush up on your history – by definition the British monarchy (including its consorts) are non- political . That’s the essence of a constitutional monarchy. Lazy writing.

She just said “not necessarily politicians.” No need to get snarky.
