Bad News/Good News: 2014 Brings Us a Little Less Sarah, A Lot More Rashida

Well, the Powers That Be (which we like to picture as a mysterious man in a leather high-back swivel chair) have dealt us a real mixed hand. Since we are such kind, gentle souls, let us be the ones to break the bad Sarah Silverman news to you: HBO has given a shrug of disinterest to the Lorne Michaels pilot People In New Jersey. The project would’ve starred Silverman and Topher Grace as adult siblings living, learning, and loving in the Garden State. Hopefully HBO was all “it’s not you, it’s us” and “you’ll find someone out there who really loves and appreciates all you have to offer”, although even with those kind (and imagined) parting words it’s still a bummer.
But there is good news! Huzzah — palette cleanser! While Rashida Jones has left Parks and Recreation, we’re haven’t seen the last of her or her work! Along with landing a pilot deal with NBC and selling a nail salon dramedy to HBO, she had added starring in a new TBS pilot , Tribeca, written by Steve and Nancy Carrel, to her insane schedule. The Hollywood Reporter describes the series a “single-camera comedy explores an eccentric but brilliant group of people who investigate crime, reveal way too much personal information and refuse to rest until justice has been served … sort of.”
While we’re sad that we won’t have some regularly schedule Silverman programming, the future promises to be so saturated with Jones (in a good way!) that we have no choice but to be content!
