Coverage Of Political Conference Comes In Form Of “Beautiful Female Journalists” Slideshow

At least the headline isn’t misleading. The article ”Beautiful female journalists at two sessions,” in China’s People’s Daily newspaper is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a slideshow of attractive female journalists at some sort of congressional session.
There are 17 photos in the slideshow from Wednesday, featuring women from various Chinese news sources at the National People’s Congress in Beijing. The women are indeed attractive, and they are indeed journalists.
But the point here is that this is how the Chinese media is covering the role of women at the conference. With a slideshow of all the pretty journalist girls.
As Foreign Policy points out, this is unfortunately not much of an anomaly in the Chinese media. Last year, another state news service published an article about the same event, with the headline “Attractive females at NPC, CPCC sessions.”
Chinese media is pretty much all state run, so the articles tend to be relatively tame in announcing themselves as “sexy,” but there’s always the comments section for overt lewdness.
As of now, there’s just one comment on the article, from the appropriately named “Mr. Dong.” His comment: “I found that very easy to spank off to.”
