Friday Flashback: Richard Branson Tries To Sell You a 1980s Amex

We enjoy following the current day-to-day lives of the rich and powerful. But sometimes it’s fun to look back and remember how those moguls ended up where they are today. Each Friday, we’ll dig up a vintage video starring your favorite movers and shakers in their younger days.

Today: Richard Branson fills up an airplane’s tank at a roadside gas station in the 1980s.

You’re trying to say Branson filled up his Virgin Air planes at your run-of-the-mill gas station? Okay, no, it’s an advertisement for American Express. Something about using your AmEx to pay for an airplane tank’s worth of gas. And about traveling a lot.

We find it pretty laughable that Branson’s using the entry-level green card! But remember, the “black card” wasn’t introduced until 1999!
