Bristol Palin: OK! Magazine Confused Another Baby For My Little Brother

In an automatic-publish world, it’s common for online media outlets to post stories rife with typos and errors, and even print publications fall under this terrible trap at times. “Dancing with the Stars” finalist Bristol Palin claims that a new issue of OK! magazine apparently committed such a faux pas, having printed a photo of mother Sarah Palin alongside a baby seemingly misidentified as brother Trig Palin. While adorable, Bristol said, the infant in the photo is not her sibling:

“A friend sent me a photo of page 40 of OK! Magazine, which features my mom and Trig. Or so people will think.

The magazine has an article about our family’s genealogy. Apparently, they believe Mom and Princess Diana are tenth cousins. (That would make Mom the most down-to-earth ‘princess’ I’ve ever heard of!) Anyway, they put a photo of mom holding a baby, which they probably assumed was Trig.

The baby, who’s half asleep in mom’s arms, is a cutie. But he’s not my brother.”

OK! didn’t outright call the kid Trig Palin, but it’s assumed given the nature of the spread:

“Sometimes it frustrates me that inaccurate Trig photos show up – in the worst circumstances, they photoshop pictures of my beautiful brother in terrible ways. In this case, I’m sure OK! just used this photo because it was similar to the photo they had of Princess Diana holding a baby as well.

But it’s not my brother.”

Bottom line, OK! magazine: Do your homework or at least explain the relevance of the photo.

It should be fairly obvious what “the relevance of the photo” is.  Both women are holding babies handed to them by someone else.  It’s obvious the baby Princess Di is holding isn’t one of her children; why should someone assume the baby Palin is holding is hers?

And why should Bristol Palin get all hot and bothered about TriG?  Isn’t that her mother’s job?  Unless there’s something about the relationship between Bristol and TriG that she’s not saying…
