Shock Of The Century: No One Is Watching Bristol Palin’s Reality Show

I was really underwhelmed by the trailer for Bristol Palin’s new Lifetime series last month, so it comes as no surprise to me that the reality show debuted to awful ratings.

“Life’s A Tripp,” which follows the 21-year-old’s life as a single mom who still has sibling bickering sessions, drew just 726,000 viewers for its premiere episode, according to Deadline. Compared to its lead-in program, “Dance Moms” (which sounds just as awful), “Life’s A Tripp” had low numbers, as the first show had an audience of 1.8 million.

Given the amount of controversy currently surrounding Bristol, who has at least two lawsuits to deal with at the moment, you’d think her show would have gotten more traction. No publicity is bad publicity, right? Besides, the first installment of “Life’s A Tripp” shows her having a meltdown in the parking lot upon duking it out with the most tactless man on earth. People are inherently intrigued by chaos, but perhaps that’s not enough for Bristol’s show to thrive. After all, even her mom Sarah’s reality series couldn’t succeed long-term. Something tells me the same will happen with “Life’s A Tripp.”

Ouch, talk about an article with a preconceived agenda.  Does a show have to be in the top 25 to not be considered a bomb?  Its not like she’s Lady Gaga or Justin Beiber…

Bristol’s show didn’t make the top 100 but per TVByTheNumbers here are some shows who did make the top 100 but have similar numbers:

    Conan:                              940k
    King of Queens:                888k
    Family Guy                        883k
    Real Housewives of OC:    840k
    Bristol Palin:                      726k

Correction … Sarah Palin’s Alaska was intended to be a short-run, limited episode series.

King of Queens and Family Guy were both years old (quite possibly more than a decade old in both cases) reruns on TBS, not exactly a strong sign that they are beating Bristol. Kind of sad that you are using them as a comparison to defend Palin’s show. If any it should be used as an example of how bad her show did.

thinking a stint on MTV’s pregnant teen show would’ve been enough.

And if the ratings had been good, the network would have begged for more episodes.

You can’t compare reruns to a shows premeire episode (after a lot of press). Also that the show on before had over twice the audience is a really bad sign.

I did watch it.  Bristol and Sarah put a lot of pressure on her 17 year old sister to give up her life with her friends, move to LA and become a full time nanny for Tripp.  Then they try to make her feel guilty for wanting to be a teenager with her friends in Alaska instead of taking responsibility for her older sister’s toddler.  Bristol has it so hard moving to LA to be a volunteer at a charity while lving in a huge mansion.  Whatever will she do for day care now?

Bristol seems to expect that because she made a choice to have unprotected sex which resulted in this very cute baby forcing her to give up her teenage life and grow up that her 17 year old sister should too.

Except Sarah was trying to get a second season and that didn’t happen. The ratings had dropped so drastically they weren’t willing to lay out the cash for another season. Bristol’s numbers are even worse and now that there is a 2nd lawsuit against the show- one that has much better legs to stand on- I wouldn’t be surprised if the combination of lousy viewership and the legal costs that will be garnered defending the show help to bury it. No great loss to society if it goes away.

So the premiere of a hyped show had 18% fewer viewers than King of Queens, a show that has been in reruns since 2007, and you’re saying that like it’s a good thing?

Nothing more than another Trailer Trash reality show with ignorance.  Glad to see America is smartening up and turning off the Wassillabillies!

Even republicans can’t watch the terrible stuff coming from the Palins. They tried to pitch a Todd Palin dogsled racing show and most networks passed on the “opportunity”. Oh wait no one even bothered to watch her insufferable documentary Undefeated at the theaters or in DVDs. I will not be shocked if it not renewed or when she claims later it was one season “endeavor”.
