Cars, T.V.s And Laptops: Why Moving Makes You Over-Spend [Infographic]

Moving is expensive — that much is obvious. But aside from your spending on the movers, the boxes, the packing tape and any stress-induced overeating, moving can make you spend money far beyond moving day.
In fact, a new infographic from real estate site Zillow shows just how much more people tend to spend on consumer goods during the months before and after a big move. For starters, Zillow found through a survey of 3,000 U.S. adults, that recent movers were 90 percent more likely to buy a new car. They’re 386 percent more likely to buy a home theater system and 117 percent more likely to buy a new T.V.
It’s a wonder more companies don’t print ads on moving boxes.
