The Charlie Sheen Intern We All Thought Was Fake Joins Obama Campaign
4:00 pm, March 4th | by Laura Donovan
Remember when train-wreck actor Charlie Sheen announced in the midst of his meltdown that he was looking for an intern? It’s news to us that he wasn’t merely orchestrating a publicity stunt, but even more interesting to learn that the intern will be abandoning tiger blood life for the Obama reelection campaign, which will undoubtedly be a more normal working environment than Sheen’s goddess palace.
Sheen tweeted about his intern, Josh Burstein’s departure Friday, stating, “My Intern has left the building… Congrats on the new gig! RT @jburst please direct all email to JBurstein@BarackObama.com.”
According to POLITICO, Burstein will be Obama’s campaign’s deputy director of digital for Wisconsin and also co-founded a non’profit that “exposes inner-city students to what lies beyond the horizons of a high school diploma.” As crazy as Sheen may appear, he picked a bright kid to manage his social media presence.
POLITICO also got a hold of Burstein’s farewell tweet, which we were unable to access because he is one of those people who chooses to have a private Twitter account (get over yourself, dude), but here is what he had to say about leaving the “rockstar from Mars” warlock for the president: “@charliesheen thank you for the well wishes, t’was an honor to serve! Taking an ample supply of #tigerblood to #WINsconsin for @BarackObama.”
How much do you want to bet that college students will start arguing that interning for Sheen “opens a lot of doors”?
