Chris Matthews Outraged At Foster Friess Over “A Joke About Women”

Chris Matthews is very upset that someone would make “a joke about women.”

Yes, I tried to type that with a straight face.

Last night on “Hardball,” Chris Matthews decided to take Rick Santorum‘s wallet supporter Foster Friess to task over his hostile comments about women and birth control. And, yep, they were things one should be taken to task for. Here’s what Friess said about women and contraception:

“Well, I get such a chuckle when these things come up. Here we have millions of our fellow Americans unemployed, we have jihadists camps being set up in Latin America which Rick has been warning about, and people seem to be so preoccupied with sex that I think it says something about our culture. We maybe need a massive therapy session so we can concentrate on what the real issues are… In my day, they used Bayer aspirin for contraceptions. The gals put it between their knees and it wasn’t that costly.”

Yes, we modern ladies need to learn to keep our legs together. We’ll work on that.

And here’s what Matthews had to say about Friess’ comments:

“If any woman votes for Rick Santorum after that comment today by his number one spokesman, I will be surprised. If he doesn’t fix this within a few hours, you can kiss off all the women voters in this country, and a lot of men… You’re talking about a guy from an old era. And he’s making a joke about women! Talk about an insulting comment. That was insulting!”

Okay, to be fair, Matthews is in the right here. Friess’ comments were actually that bad.

But if Matthews would like to “talk about an insulting comment” — and, for that matter, talk about “making a joke about women” — maybe we could also talk about his “insulting comment” slash “joke about women” oh, two days ago? The one about how “weird” it would be if “the husband” were cooking dinner? Or is he too busy not watching T.V.?
