How Lena Dunham Stunned Chris O’Dowd With Direction Of ‘Girls’

If we’ve learned anything from Lena Dunham’s wildly popular new HBO program “Girls,” it’s that the 26-year-old TV show creator is good at surprising people. She surely exceeded the expectations of many when she landed a $3.5 million book deal and dominated 2012, and the New York native also stunned actor Chris O’Dowd when she had his “Girls” character get married after a single episode.

Speaking to New York about his character spontaneously tying the knot with cast member Jemima Kirke’s onscreen persona in the last installment of season one, O’Dowd said:

“I was very surprised! She asked me to come in and do that one episode where I try to have a threesome with the girls, and it went well, so she asked me to come back, but I didn’t realize it would be to marry one of them! I couldn’t imagine. Only on a show like this, where that character is so unsuccessful in seduction, could he come back and marry one of the girls. I was as shocked as anybody.”

Maybe not as shocked as we’d be if we didn’t know he’s set to strip down for the series during season two:

“I do have to pose semi-nude for a painting at some stage, wearing a hat at a jaunty angle.”

I’ll be waiting not-so-patiently for that episode — and hope he pulls a Jason Segel in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall.” Yeah…

“If we’ve learned anything from Lena Dunham’s wildly popular new HBO program “Girls”…….”

The new normal is this Orwellian nature of speaking. I wager very few people even heard about it until Dunham pulled a publicity stunt and even now most have never watched and don’t care to.

But let’s runs some NUMBERS, shall we? According to this, 4.1 million views a week. This is wildly overexaggerated since it counts those that record but never view.

ANYWAY, so how many listeners does RUSH LIMBAUGH have, eh?

“Rush Limbaugh’s show has been the number one commercial talk show since at least 1991 when record keeping began.”

And that number is 14.75 MILLION. Over how many years?

    Huh.

So, if you write an article about Limbaugh, what adverb would you use? What is more than “wildly”? Either way, it is far more popular than Dunham’s show. And I guarantee you a lot longer running.
