Guinness Heiress Hosts Weirdest Jewelry Show Ever

Admittedly, I have no idea how one would go about hosting a jewelry show. What I do know, however, is that how Guinness beer heiress Daphne Guinness did it was really, really creepy.

Of course, the jewels she displayed — a single, white gold glove covered in 5,000 pave diamonds, valued at $1.76 million — is pretty weird too.

Guinness, who partnered with jeweler Shaun Leane to create the glove in question, decided she would celebrate the glove’s completion by dressing up an all-white bodysuit and pretending she was a corpse, according to WWD. Really.

Here’s how WWD described the event last night:

Guinness, no stranger to the gothic flourish, outdid herself on Thursday night with an unusual display at Jay Jopling’s grand Georgian townhouse, posing in a silent and dramatic tableau. Dressed in a whisper-thin, one-piece Alexander McQueen bodysuit, she lay on a long slab with an antique-looking veil covering her petite body. Just one arm was exposed, and encased in a one-of-a-kind gold and diamond glove.

Oh, sure. Because how else would you celebrate this occasion?

The event drew some major fashion power players, including Tom Ford who “kissed the recumbent Guinness through her veil and then tickled her.” And Ford didn’t get the heebie-jeebies?

Leane said that the glove was “just the beginning of an ongoing collaboration between us,” which means we can possibly expect more bejeweled armor in the future.

No word yet if corpsiness will be part of any future shows.

And what exactly was so wrong for her to do it that way?
