Easter: A $14.7 Billion Holiday [Infographic]

This year, U.S. households will spend a combined $14.7 billion on Easter. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg for this lucrative holiday.

Remember when we showed you 15 of the weirdest things you can buy for Easter? Turns out there are other, more popular items going as well. And they rake in big bucks.

Consider, for instance, the 16 billion jelly beans made for Easter. Or the 90 million chocolate bunnies created. Or, as long as we’re at it, how about the 71 million pounds of chocolate people buy every year for the holiday? It’s the reason Easter is one of the biggest chocolate consumption holidays of the year — second place after Halloween, but beating out Valentine’s Day (eat your heart out), which comes in third at 48 million pounds.
