Elizabeth Warren Says Obama’s Gay Marriage Views Need To Evolve Already

President Barack Obama resembles a fickle, commitment-phobic college kid right now. Nearly a year ago, he said his views on gay marriage, which he initially argued should be between a man and a woman, were “evolving,” leading many to conclude he was on the verge of taking a more progressive stance on marriage equality. Nine months have passed and we still don’t know how the president has progressed (or even regressed) in the evolution process.

Massachusetts Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren isn’t going to let Obama forget his striking comment. Speaking to the Washington Blade, Warren said  she hopes to see Obama finish what he started and support gay marriage:

“I want to see the president evolve because I believe that is right; marriage equality is morally right.”

That’s quite a bold statement for a person seeking office to say about our commander-in-chief. The president may still be sorting out his thoughts on the matter, especially as he prepares for election competition to get serious, so now would be the time for him to expand on his “evolving” standpoints with the media. The push from Warren could be what he needs to revisit the issue again.

Won’t happen, Lizzy.  I would make it too hard for him to try to play both sides.

Obama is a CHRISTIAN right? Or at least that’s what he’s been saying.  So as a “Christian” Barack knows that while he may “WIN THE BASE” with his support of Gay marriage, he will BURN IN HELL.  See Oh So Christian Barack, knows that the Apostles Paul specifically mentioned on the LIST OF THE CONDEMNED TO HELL REPROBATES, those who are NOT GAY, but who SUPPORT THOSE WHO ARE!  See ROMANS 1:22-32 and concentrate your beady little eyes on VERSE 32!  So this is why Barry won’t be “evolving”, he can READ.

In 1996 Mr. Obama supported same-sex marriage. If reelected, I’m sure he’ll be done evolving.

  • Hordanjodges

WTF!?! I thought he was a devout Muslim? Either way, organized religion is total bullshit.

  • Hordanjodges

So Mitt Romney may be ‘evolving’ on abortion during his first term?

  • Anonymous

Romney will NOT have a first term.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_BOVGSJTBPYXEE5CBYYD2OJS6FI Jon

Mr. Romney is a tough sell. I’m not entirely certain if he really is a conservative. I honestly don’t know what to expect if Mr. Romney were to be elected.

  • http://twitter.com/WorldDivider James Baker

Romney wins against Obama but people just don’t see it yet. Think Bill Clinton 1992.

  • http://twitter.com/sutherland_ann ann sutherland

The fact that she is saying it, tells me it’s very likely to happen, second term, maybe at the end he will sign a bill going out.

Nobody is going to BURN IN HELL, not even Vlad the Impaler . . . and he should.

  • http://www.MekhongKurt.com Mekhong Kurt

Jon, of course you don’t know what to expect — Romney doesn’t know what to expect of himself!

Fortunately, it almost a dead certainty that any question about a “President” Romney is merely rehtorical, academic, speculative — sort of like speculating about what a second JFK or Carter Administration might have been.

Obama is just as homophobic and bigoted as Kirk Cameron.

They’re both Bible reading Christians who believe homosexuals are evil sinners and have no right to marry as that’s a “union between a man and a woman”, a view Kirk is demonized for expressing.

Poor gays voted for someone who doesn’t even think they deserve basic human rights…sad indeed that they were manipulated, but are still considering voting for him again.

So when Romney changes positions it’s disingenuous flip-flopping, but when Obama does it, it’s evolution.

Is that the narrative the Democratic mainstream media has been instructed to promulgate by the Media Matters/White House cabal?

  • Smack80

Evolution is a slow process, flip-flopping is what a beached fish does. All of us change as we age, hopefully. Our life experiences either validate or change our views, I know I’m much different now than I was when I first voted in 1976.

  • Smack80

It’s actually not even a “Bible” thing. One minister I know just calls it the “ick factor”. It’s not a moral issue, it’s a matter of being uncomfortable with something that is different. Christians allow, even support many things that are un-Bibical. The death penalty is supported in the Bible only under very specific conditions yet many Christians support it.

  • Smack80

I agree. I think he’s trying to stick to the Republican agenda but to get elected but that he’s really not that conservative. I really don’t want him, or any other of the of the Repub whack-a-doodles elected but, I’d rather have him than Santorum.

  • Anonymous

LOL!! Can you imagine the ‘outrage’ were a Republican to suggest that the President  ‘evolve’ a bit more?!

The God in the BIble I read cares much more about love, then hate.  He cares that mankind love each other.  He’s not so crazy about those little lambs who try to slam down others on the basis of their race, gender, religious or sexual orientations.  If I had to place a bet on who was getting into heaven, the person who supported gay marriage and you, I’d place every last dime on the person supporting gay marriage.  You will be spending alot of time at the pearly gates, reviewing all of the hate-filled things you ever did in your life, all of the pain you caused to others.   If I were you, I’d be bringing an ice chest along for that excursion.  You’ll probably going to need it.

Warren sees that she’s behind the polls so she needs to pander to her base

  • Anonymous

Obama flip-flopping on the Keystone pipeline sure was not an “evolution”.

  • http://www.larry-kelly.com/ Larry Kelly

“evolve” is such a liberal word.

  • Jwatson7770

Ms. Donovan, no disrespect, but President Obama’s current position on gay marriage, “evolving,” is at least his third take on gay marriage…surprisingly, Mr. Obama changed from pro-gay marriage to anti-gay marriage just prior to running for President…

  • Anonymous

I could care less what Paul, a man who held the robes of those who stoned St. Stephen, has to say about others.  If I am to be a Christian it is to follow Christ, not others who claim to speak for him.

  • Anonymous

That’s the silliest thing I’ve ever heard.  If anything evolution is a conservative process.  It’s slow, gradual emergent change, a much more conservative approach instead of progressive radical and revolutionary change.

  • Christy

Strange that love has more of an “ick factor” than putting people to death.  I don’t disagree with you that the “ick factor” is what’s going on.  In fact, I think that’s a more useful way of talking about this than the “Bible” factor.  I just find that where people end up feeling “icky” is bizarre, arbitrary, and more than a little sad.

  • Mk20 mod0

So what you’re saying is Obama won’t support same-sex marriage because it’s “icky”.
Whatever his reason, he does NOT support same-sex marriage, period.

-please go get your own hateful self a life. ug :/

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/WDUKL4E2BS3SVCFVTK2CC4GHXI XandLU

just like that DADT thingy did not happen…

  • Smack80

I’m just saying that most people don’t support marriage equality because it makes them uncomfortable, not for any moral reasons. They just find it easier to justify their bigotry if they can quote scripture.

  • Smack80

Find me a politician that doesn’t flip flop and I show you an unemployed politician.

  • Mk20 mod0

This makes me quite disappointed in Barry Obama.

  • Anonymous

Taking a stand on gay marriage ain’t gonna happen until after the election, if at all.  For President Obama to approve of it publicly would hurt him substantially with his most staunch supporters, the Black community, who are perhaps the most  homophobic group in the USA.  To announce being against it would make his support in the gay community less enthusiastic.
