The First Look at Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd in They Came Together

The first clip of Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd’s rom-com spoof, They Came Together, was released on BuzzFeed today. The film, which will premiere at Sundance next month as the closing-night selection, centers on Joel (Rudd), a corporate executive for a mega candy store chain, and Molly (Poehler), the owner of a local candy shop called Upper Sweet Side. When Joel is tasked with shutting down Molly’s store, the “unlikely lovers find themselves hurtled into a whirlwind romance.” The parody has shades of director David Wain’s best work, like Wet Hot American Summer (which features early performances by both Poehler and Rudd) and The State. Fellow Wet Hot alumni Michael Ian Black, Christopher Meloni and Ken Marino are all slated to appear in the film.
They Came Together also boasts the best movie poster OF ALL TIME. Never have we seen such incredibly helpful blurbs and reviews!
We can’t wait for this movie’s release; finally we’ll be able to make such a top-shelf cinematic joke as, “We all came together to watch They Came Together.” Thanks, we’ll be here all night! ….But we will leave before you wake up.
