Garfunkel and Oates Land an IFC Series

IFC announced this morning that they’ve greenlighted a new ten-episode half-hour comedy featuring Garfunkel and Oates. What is a Garfunkel and Oates? Well, let me just quote myself on this one:
Usually I just can’t with musical comedy acts. You can take your Bo Burnham; I’d prefer monotone jokes about pizza, farts, and pizza farts any day of the week. But when I discovered Garfunkel and Oates, Kate Micuicci and Riki Lindhome’s musical comedy duo, well, I ate my hat! Surprisingly, I don’t mind it when these ladies play ukuleles and sing to me about how pregnant women are smug and trying to get a medical marijuana prescription; the songs are charming, perceptive, and damn catchy!
Deadline reports that the series, also called Garfunkel and Oates, “will spotlight the personal and professional lives of the duo whose career choices – singing satirical and sometimes dirty songs – leaves them with little in common with their peers, and no one but each other to turn to for support and understanding.”
The show will premiere in 2014 and be produced by Children’s Hospital co-creator Jonathan Stern’s Abominable, the production company also responsible for Children’s, NTSF:SD:SUV, and Burning Love.
In celebration, here is one of our favorite Garfunkel and Oates jams:
