Get This Anthropologie Look for Less

Like every young woman who spent her formative years reading the liner notes of Jewel’s Pieces of You and thoughtfully accenting her French brain with butterfly clips, we went through a period when we thought Anthropologie was the acme of personal style. The flower crowns, the billowing lace peasant blouses, the drawstring “joggers” — once upon a time, we wanted to conduct a romance in and with the store’s whispery Ren Faire bee keeper garb. We wanted to own a dress that swaddled our elbows in enough fabric to smother three Californian wildfires but left our upper thighs bare to the elements. We wanted to live inside Anthropologie, invite guests to our local outlet mall as if the store was in fact a country home where we summered. WE WANTED TO USE THE WORD “SUMMER” AS A VERB.
Yet our infatuation with the store gently faded, as all things do with time/when you start making your own money and realize that no muslin dress should be $350. But thanks to the ladies behind Just The Tips, we can have the Anthropologie lifestyle we always dreamed of and still pay our rent, maybe even buy dinner! And isn’t that was the American dream is all about: using low-quality scraps and bits to create your own shoddy approximation of someone else’s desirable product? We think so!
