HBO Releases ‘Girls’ Season 2 Trailer; Internet Girds Itself For Battle

In the words of Jay-Z, “I love Girls, Girls, Girls, Girls; Girls, I do…also find racially problematic.” Okay, so I know that Jay-Z wasn’t alluding to Lena Dunham’s HBO series about loving and living as a twenty-something year-old woman in New York and that last part wasn’t in the original song, but my excitement is well-deserved: HBO has finally posted a first look at Girls‘ second season. After viewing the trailer, it seems that all the girls are just as fearless and as charmingly confused as ever. Oh, and the soundtrack is still spot on.

Things to get excited about: Hannah gets smooched by dudes who aren’t the elusive and — in my opinion — creepy Adam; Shoshanna is grabbing the whole non-virgin lifestyle by the…uh, horns; that aggressive guy from The Lonely Island returns to sweep Marnie into his bed. Unfortunately, Adam and Hannah are clearly not over, Jessa is still frustratingly (and unrealistically) pixie-like, and there still is nary a person of color to be seen in Dunham’s bizarro-version of New York. But, to end on a positive note, Elijah, Hannah’s out and snarky ex-boyfriend, has returned to the series as Hannah’s roommate. I can’t wait to see who gets slapped this season.
