Yesterday, James Franco eye-rolled his way through a Huffington Post column about HBO’s Girls, snarking that lead character Hannah should “get a [flingin-flangin!] job.” It was harsh. But the sentiment wasn’t exactly an original one.
Yet the privilege that the girls on Girls enjoy is especially obvious when they’re juxtaposed against the women of Mad Men. And, thanks to the lovely ladies of Comediva, we don’t have to imagine what it’d be like if Hannah met Peggy or Jessa met Joan. They’ve pictured it for us.
So, Girls, you think you have it bad? Try switching places with the working women of the 1960s. Yipes stripes.
