Greta Van Susteren Hearts Jill Abramson’s “Puppy Diaries” Memoir

Though we’re all climbing the professional ladder together, women haven’t exactly mastered the art of helping each other out in a work setting yet. Fox News host Greta Van Susteren, however, is happy to promote the work of fellow media colleague, Jill Abramson, who recently wrote a book about her young Golden Retriever, Scout.
Van Susteren penned a review of Abramson’s memoir, “The Puppy Diaries: Raising a Dog Named Scout” over the weekend and said it was “so enormously refreshing” to see an esteemed journalist such as Abramson publish a book about a furry friend. Van Susteren gushed of the new book:
“The New York Times Executive Editor Jill Abramson, one of the nation’s most respected journalists and most experienced, not to mention a trail blazer for women which is much appreciated, has seen it all and covered every story imaginable..so it is so enormously refreshing that she wrote this book (out about 5 months) about a puppy. Yes, a puppy! She gives all of us the well needed break from war, poverty, political blood baths and everything else we deal with in the media. Most journalists don’t have the intellectual confidence to momentarily break away from the usual journalism fodder of war, disease etc. and remind us of the great pleasures of life. I love that she has written this book.”
It’s an understatement to say our negative news cycle could spend a tad more time covering cute canines and kitties, but wonderful that Van Susteren is not only willing to praise another professional female but also note the value of heartwarming stories. Besides, we were ready to talk about another dog story besides “Marley and Me,” which still makes us cry.
