Gwyneth Paltrow Takes A Business Cue from Rachel Zoe

Gwyneth Paltrow is diversifying her lifestyle brand with a new business venture. In addition to telling her readers on GOOP to buy $50,000 worth of clothes, she now wants them to get expensive blow-outs. She’ll be opening a blow dry hair salon with her BFF and personal trainer, Tracy Anderson, in Los Angeles. Hair stylist David Babaii will also be in on the collaboration (unless Gwyneth knows how to give a good blow out too!). The salon will be housed inside Anderson’s fitness studio as part of an effort to offer women a complete transformation package.
“It’s not just going to be a blowout bar,” David revealed to PEOPLE. “It’s going to be ‘Hey, why don’t we do this style with your new body? It’s more about your lifestyle. There’s no judgment.’” Everyone knows a blowout goes great with new biceps.
But who else do we know that just opened a blow dry bar? That would be little Ms. Rachel Zoe. So will Gwyneth steal business from Rachel? Both women are fashionistas, but Rachel doesn’t exactly scream “healthy lifestyle” (unless there are veggies in all those Starbucks cups.) But Rachel has already talked about her salon’s focus on the power woman on the go, while Gwynnie’s sounds like you have to work out and take a shot of kale juice before you get your hair done. Hm…there could still be some customer overlap in the “super chic, rich lady” department. Who will win?
