‘International Cat Superstar’ And Virginia Senate Candidate Hank To Participate In Congressional Softball League Game
5:30 pm, August 13th | by Laura Donovan
Summer is coming to a close, and though it’s been thoroughly fulfilling, the season has felt rather meaningless without frequent updates on Hank, the Maine Coon running for Virginia Senate. He brightened up our dreary spring with his fresh ideas and feisty spirit, so we’re elated he’s coming back strong with an upcoming event. The cat, who is the official mascot for a team playing in the Congressional Softball League and has already raised more than $10,000 for animal rescue, will appear at the playoff game on Saturday at Beulah Park in Alexandria, Virginia.
According to a statement provided to The Jane Dough, members of the “Hank’s Hitters” team have jerseys featuring the feline’s image. The cat’s campaign manager Matthew O’Leary claimed Hank said of the players:
“The Hitters have many similarities to my campaign. They’re in the game to win, sure, but most importantly they stay positive, even as undercats, and they’ve become a true contender in this championship race!”
Let’s just hope they don’t let him down. Otherwise he’ll probably have to stress-eat all the free hot dogs and hamburgers his campaign will be providing.
