Point well made--I didn't mean to imply that Beyonce should view men as competition (I don't view them as competition myself), just that I find it difficult to reconcile the empowering message of "Independent Women" or the powerful image of Beyonce controlling her own business/brand with her traditionalist & almost outdated stance toward heterosexual love & gender roles as reflected in songs like "Upgrade U" or "Cater 2 U." It's an interesting juxtaposition.

This is where white women and Blackwomen will forever disagree. WE ARE NOT FEMINIST...we are WOMANIST...meaning we are not intimidated or inferiour to the the contributions and power of men, we own power in OUR OWN RIGHT and it is no way dependent or dampered by the power of our husbands, sons and brothers...the Black man and Black woman are an allegiance NOT INDIVIDUALS...WE are victims of the same struggles and do not see each other as competition...ROCK ON BEY!!!!!
