A new infographic by Nationwide Insurance reveals just how awful clogged highways really are, reporting that the average driver loses $713 per year due to traffic jams. Your typical urban commuter spends 34 hours a year in traffic, and 1.9 billions of fuel go to waste annually thanks to backed up roads. The upside is that traffic apparently decreases during warmer months, likely because the only thing worse than being parked behind miles and miles of cars is having to do so in sweltering heat, which can bring the worst out in people. Traffic is also considerably less terrible during the weekend, so that is always a good time to cruise around and travel.
There’s nothing fun about draining one’s funds due to poor transportation conditions, so it’s always wise to leave the house early for work. Don’t lose cash in addition to your mind!
