We’re all a bit analytical here at The Jane Dough, so instead of compiling a “Top 10 Fuzziest Pink V-day Gifts” slideshow, we decided to expose the — pardon our language — butt-ton of money people will be spending on various gifts for their loved ones this year. We’re all about throwing around money to fuel the economy, but come on guys — 17 billion dollars on presents? Really?
According to the annual National Retail Foundation Survey, all you hopeless romantics out there will spend 8.5 percent more on this year’s Valentine’s day than you did last year. And, even crazier, the amount that all you saps will shell out this year is the highest in the survey’s 10-year history. But hey, if that doesn’t say economic turnaround, I don’t know what does.
