How To Get A Job At Instagram: Create A Viral Website, Of Course
6:00 pm, February 21st | by Rebecca Srulowitz
Even though pundits claim the economy is improving and the jobless rate is falling, let’s face the facts- it’s still really tough to find a job, and anything that makes you stand out of the crowd could mean a world of difference. You could always pull a Hillary and literally stand out or you could try to write a highly personalized cover letter to set yourself apart. Instead, why not emulate Alice Lee, the UPenn student who brilliantly applied for a job at Instagram?
Lee, who’s interned at Microsoft and Foursquare and is passionate about photography and design, really — and we mean really — wanted to work at Instagram after graduation. So, she designed this website, an ode to Instagram if you will, to show how much of an asset she’d be to the company. With her design skills and extreme dedication, we’re not surprised that startup investor Chris Sacca tweeted about Lee: “I’ve never met @byalicelee. But, when I see hustle like this, I am sure I will, eventually.”
So, if writing cover letter after cover letter has you stressing, or worse, leaves you copy and pasting, try for some creativity. It may get you the buzz you need to snag that dream job of yours.
