How To Do Everything Cheaper

Bizarre Ways To Save $10,000 Without Even Trying

Okay, well, you have to try a little. No such thing as free money. But an extra $10K without adding on work hours? Color us intrigued.

The infographic below, which, yes, is purportedly backed up by legit data, claims that small changes can save you thousands of dollars. Things like cleaning your car’s air filter, turning down extended warranties and waiting 30 days before making an unnecessary, pricey purchase — all old standbys.

And then things get a little weird.

“Cool your fridge for free,” claims one tip, suggesting that you “get a 1 gallon ice cream pail, and on your way to work in the morning, fill it about 3/4 full of water and place it outside to make a giant ice cube.” I mean, sure. But then you’re the person with the giant block of ice in her fridge. Also, if you were a New York resident this winter, this tip would have been a miserable failure.

The infographic also suggests you put a bottle of rocks in your toilet tank to save $90 a year by displacing water. Again, sure, this might work but… then you have rocks in your toilet. I’m just saying.

Anyone want to take a shot at these?

Well I don’t smoke, I hate Starbucks and I’ve already cut my life down to the nub 3+ years ago. Any real-life suggestions?

I’m confused.  Is it inforgraphic or infogrpahic?

Or you could not smoke, not spend money on cigarettes, not stink like cigarettes, and not get lung cancer or emphysema.  Not to mention missing out on smoker’s face, smoker’s teeth and smoker’s cough in the morning.  And spending money to get the cigarette reek out of everything.
