In A Giving Mood? Donate To This Dress Drive

You may have already seen us promoting this dress drive for students displaced from Hurricane Sandy on Facebook and Twitter, but we thought it was worth a second look (especially after Thanksgiving, which tends to put people in a giving mood). Here’s some background on the inspiration for the drive:
Last year when Joplin, MO was devastated by tornadoes, a local teacher reached out asking for dresses for her students who lost everything. A friend of mine from DC linked me up with the flyer, and I donated. I thought that her idea could be replicated here in the Tri-State Area.
I reached out to a friend of mine who teaches at Multicultural High School in Brooklyn, New York, which was also heavily impacted. Because of their proximity to the Rockaways, they have begun receiving displaced students. Amanda’s kids have been looking for ways to help these new students, and she was in the process of finding a private charity that would donate (a Cinderella’s Closet type of thing). She wasn’t having any luck and when I approached her with this idea she was 100% on board.
