The More You Know

Meet Jackie Carrizosa, The Ex-Navy Officer Who Taught Rihanna To Fire A Machine Gun

Whether you like Rihanna’s music or not, being called a “bad ass” by the chart-topping singer is definitely brag-worthy.

Former U.S. Navy officer Jackie Carrizosa can add that to her resume, as the 22-year-old Machine Guns Vegas employee inspired Rihanna’s debut movie role as a hard-as-rock sailor in upcoming flick, “Battleship.”

Rihanna’s character, Cora Raikes is based off Carrizosa, to whom Rihanna referred as a “bad ass chick” in a chat with The Sun:

“We had this bad ass chick on set, her name is Jackie, she was also in the Navy. I was playing what she does in real life. She was all tattooed up and I just looked at her and I was like, ‘You are Raikes.’ I watched her and really tried to get in her character. She’s fearless and she’s one of the boys and it’s really fun to explore that.”

The love appears to be mutual, as Carrizosa raved to The Sun about showing Rihanna the ropes on set:

“I can’t believe she said I was a bad ass — she was a bad ass too. She was shooting a mini gun — an electric machine gun — and I was helping her.”

Though the two really seemed to be on the same wavelength and what not, Carrizosa was frank with Rihanna about her on-the-job Navy attitude, which let’s just say wasn’t buckets of sunshine and rosy:

“I was a supervisor and was really mean, very demanding. I’m a perfectionist and I wanted my team to be the same.”

I’m not much for action films or heavy guns, but I’d be interested in seeing “Battleship,” which hits theaters on April 11, now that I know a little bit about the way Rihanna prepared for the part and interacted with the person who inspired the role.
