According to the email blasts I receive from the lizard people who run our country (or The Hollywood Reporter), America’s
sweetheart surly stepdaughter Janeane Garofalo has landed a co-starring role on Bravo’s hourlong dramedy pilot.
The project, called The Girlfriend’s Guide To Divorce, is based on Vicki Iovine’s eponymous book series and is being developed by Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum Marti Noxon. The hourlong dramedy stars House‘s Lisa Edelstein as Vicki, a bestselling self-help author who is trying to keep her separation from her husband underwraps. Vicki begins to hit the town as a newly single woman in her 40s, finding support in friends like Lyla, a “legendary entertainment lawyer who is a real shark,” played by Garofalo.
It’s not a good sign that Showtime already developed and dropped The Girlfriend’s Guide To Divorce and it’s not like Bravo has the best track record when it comes to scripted television — but O! how we hope Bravo takes The Girlfriend’s Guide to series! Just imagine how amazing Janeane Garofalo would be on Watch What Happens Live! Imagine Garofalo wearing the Ramona Singer eye mask. Imagine Garofalo pleading the fifth. Imagine everything she would say about the Real Housewives. Imagine Andy Cohen interacting with this tattooed, cantankerous, riot grrrl specter. Wait — WHY CAN’T THAT BE A SERIES?!
