Kirsten Dunst and Bachelorette scribe Leslye Headland are teaming up again for a new project, Variety reports. As announced at the Toronto Film Festival earlier this morning, Dunst will start alongside recent Saturday Night Live grad Jason Sudeikis in Sleeping With Other People, a rom-com written and directed by Headland. The film revolves around “a good-natured womanizer,” played by Sudeikis, who befriends Dunst’s “remorseful serial cheater.” The pair’s relationship “reforms their chronic infidelity” but, as one can predict, “sparks an inconvenient romantic attraction to each other.”
Sleeping will provide a reunion of sorts for Sudeikis as well — SNL alum Will Ferrell is producing the film with Adam McKay via their Gary Sanchez company. Sanchez also produced Headland’s VOD hit Bachelorette. So few degrees of separation!
This is shaping up to be a great month for Headland who just had a comedy pilot picked up by NBC on Friday. Like Bachelorette, Assistance began as one of Headland’s Seven Deadly Sins plays. The series is a single-camera female-led comedy about an idealistic assistant struggling to find balance between her life and the outrageous demands of her boss. Krysten Ritter is set to star and executive produce while Headland will write and executive produce.
