Jenna Bush Confirms Pregnancy, Dodges Annoying ‘We’re Pregnant’ Line
4:30 pm, December 12th | by Laura Donovan
I’m not going to pretend to know anything about carrying children, but I do know that it’s insanely annoying when couples say “we’re pregnant.” That’s why it’s awesome that “TODAY” correspondent Jenna Bush Hager avoided the weird remark when confirming her rumored pregnancy on the program this morning.
“I’m nervous and so excited to say that Henry and I are pregnant—or I’m pregnant,” the former first daughter said on the show, prompting fellow hosts Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie to clap. “We’re so excited. And I’m, you know, obviously nervous about it. I’m a first-time mom—but it’s something I’ve always wanted.”
As to be expected, former President George W. Bush is beyond thrilled to become a grandfather this spring. He said during a phone interview with “TODAY”:
“I’m fired up. Looking forward to it. And I’m excited for Jenna and Henry. I could barely contain the news when I found out, so now I can tell all my buddies.”
Laura and George Bush, who’ve taken in Jenna’s cat during the pregnancy, said they intend to “spoil” the grandbaby…”kind of like how [they spoiled their] daughters,” George joked.
“You didn’t spoil me,” Jenna said.
I’m just glad Jenna knows the phrase “we’re pregnant” is inaccurate and obnoxious. That has to go!
