Oscar Nominee Jessica Chastain: ‘I Don’t Work For Awards’

The 2013 Academy Awards ceremony is less than a month away, and while Golden Globe winner Jessica Chastain is a top contender to take home the Best Actress Oscar, the redhead admits that accolades don’t motivate her.
“I don’t work for awards but when you receive support and encouragement, it opens me up more, it helps me be vulnerable. I think that’s why I got so emotional at the Golden Globes – to feel the support I was getting at that moment made me feel like I could do anything.”
How could you not love this girl? For one, her red hair is actually real (lookin’ at you, impostor Emma Stone!), and she’s not entitled in the least. She’s thankful for the praise she gets, and best of all, the California native doesn’t care to be a tabloid sensation, unlike another redhead who will go unnamed:
“I really made an effort to not put myself in situations where my private life becomes more interesting than my work. Like being seen dancing on a table in a nightclub. I’m not interested in that kind of, er, acknowledgement.”
Where have you been all our lives?! Thanks for restoring the image of the female celebrity ginger, which I feared for many years had been permanently ruined by She Who Must Not Be Named.
