Rate Julianne Moore’s Sarah Palin Portrayal In “Game Change” [VIDEO]

We don’t have any skin in the game when it comes to the accuracy of “Game Change” — which is why it’s so easy for us to sit back and slowly pick apart Julianne Moore’s performance of former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

If you haven’t seen the movie yet, you can watch a newly posted YouTube clip of a scene-by-scene comparison of Palin’s actual television appearances to Moore’s emulation of those clips. I’ve never met Moore, but she carries herself in a much more soft-spoken way than Palin, and this definitely comes through in “Game Change.” She seems to overdo the accent as well, but we can imagine mimicking Palin’s voice can be difficult for sustained periods of time. While she also “leaves out the sexy sassiness” of Palin, Moore performs an uncanny replication of Palin’s mannerisms and tics to the point of discomfort. It couldn’t have been easy to replicate Palin’s tongue-tied moment during her infamous Katie Couric interview. Moore certainly did her homework for this role!

Take a look at the video below:

She was very realistic and portrayed Palin as sympathetic as is possible for someone who doesn’t know where Germany is on a map or that they were part of the Axis powers in
WW II! (Really?) America dodged a bullet in ’08!!!!

Hey Tangled. Did you watch the movie or are you reviewing it, as Palin and her people did, without watching it?

I give her an A for her performance in “Triumph of the Will” err I mean “Game Change”. She would make Obumbles proud.  As for her Palin impression. I think she should stick to playing a pornstar.

I thought that it would be impossible to watch Sarah being depicted by Julianne Moore but she was just different enough to make it bearable since she somehow softened Sarah’s character.  I don’t think that I could have watched it if she were dead on.

LOL..  Please, there’s more truth in the infamous nazi propaganda film of the 1934 nazi party rally in Nuremberg Germany-Triumph of the Will, than in this liberal manufactured fictionous film.

  • Anonymous

In my opinion I thought she was awful and the movie itself was boring. It was one of the worst fictional movies I have ever seen. A big waste of time. These people are all BHOs rich Hollywood supporters I should have figured it would be a fictional piece of BS. Why didn’t they make a movie of what the 2/3 of the book was really about instead of propaganda. Governor Palin is a big threat to them and they just proved it.

  • Anonymous

Like The Undefeated more, this was fiction and propaganda.

I have known Sarah Palin and her family for almost twenty years.  Sarah and her family are honest and decent people.  If you knew her you would know that  most of you are far out in left field on your comments.

Julianne Moore doesn’t get it. Julianne Moore lacks the beauty and charisma and heart to play Sarah Palin. Moore looks like a pale red head dressed like Palin. The voice is wrong and the content is bogus. BHO Fiction. I wonder when HBO will make the story of the Closeted Homosexual Radical Leftist Community Organizer.

During the same conference call, Randy Scheunemann, who also worked as an adviser to Palin during the presidential campaign said: “If the book was very misleading, the movie’s going to be far worse.” Other current and former aides to Palin who attended the conference call, criticized Heilemann and Halperin “for writing about Palin when they weren’t physically there covering the things that were reported in the book.”

“Game Change,” which is to air March 10, depicts Scheunemann explaining to Palin that Germany was the antagonist in both World Wars. (In the scene, a note-taking Palin, played by Julianne Moore, does not indicate whether she knew this or not.)

“The idea that there was at any point that Gov. Palin expressed any uncertainty as to who were the various sides in World War I or World War II … or any other war is absolutely untrue,” Scheunemann said. “She was incredibly intelligent. She asked very informed questions. She was very interested and she wanted to understand John McCain’s view of foreign policy because she wanted to be the best possible vice presidential nominee.”

“Game Change.” Yes, there is the horrific character assassination of Sarah Palin, much to the satisfaction of the Left.

However, as the movie progresses, it becomes obvious that the blatant betrayal by members of Sen. John McCain’s own staff is the culprit. After the film concludes, the permeation of this betrayal rises to intoxication.

Palin is not the villain. The villains are two of McCain’s staffers, Steve Schmidt and Nicolle Wallace.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/5EKUDMC7XN7CBATOBZ5WYQIOWE Jack

HBO’s sensationalism might appeal to those hungry for more of the same lame anti-Palin propaganda, but everyone with a modicum of common sense knows that the same person who turned her hometown into the fastest growing business city in Alaska, defeated a big-name incumbent in her run for governor of the largest state, exposed corruption, negotiated the largest private sector infrastructure project in North American history, became the first woman on the Republican ticket, energized the Party, and carried Senator McCain farther than he could have possibly gone without her, all while raising a wide-ranging family, could not possibly be the same individual Julianne Moore portrays.

When and how did we know that the upcoming HBO film “Game Change” would be a total and complete hit job produced only with destroying Sarah Palin in mind? Well, we knew that the moment the film was announced back in March of 2011. For starters, the material upon which the film is based, the book “Game Change,” written by left-wing political journalists Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, is itself a hit-job, and a poorly sourced one at that.

HBO claims that “Game Change, the book, was applauded by audiences and pundits on both ends of the political spectrum.” Really? If this is true, just like the writers of the book, HBO doesn’t name any of their sources to back it up. There are plenty of people on the record however, who did not applaud John Heilemann and Mark Halperin’s work.

Howard Kurtz wrote that the authors not identifying their sources was a “recurring weakness” in the book, and later added: The most cooperative sources may have gotten to spin the narrative their way, and no one – such as Steve Schmidt, the former McCain aide who has publicly criticized Palin – was pressed to be on the record.”

Don Campbell from USA Today called it: “A gossipy, behind-the-scenes presidential campaign book once again illustrates how the public is poorly served by some in the political press corps.”

There were people who were close to Palin during the 2008 campaign who took issue with Heilemann and Halperin’s work, however. During a conference call with reporters, Jason Recher, who worked for Sarah Palin during the 2008 campaign, said that the book did not reflect reality.

From the Associated Press: “Palin wasn’t the primary focus of the book, and he said he told screenwriter and co-executive producer Danny Strong that the book “absolutely, unequivocally” did not accurately reflect his time with the McCain campaign.

“We all know Palin sells and the dramatization of Palin sells even more,” said Stapleton, who, like Crawford and other Palin spokespeople, rarely if ever returned reporters’ phone calls. “This is sick. The media has gone too far. You accepted the false narrative of a couple of people who sought revenge and fabricated a story more than three years ago,” she said, referring to Schmidt and Wallace.

Recher and McMarlin traveled with Palin during the 2008 campaign and have been at Palin’s side during nearly every public appearance she has made in the last year or so. Recher said he reviewed daily schedules and plane manifests from the campaign and concluded that neither author of “Game Change” was ever present, and that Schmidt was present on only five of 200 bus or plane trips taken by Palin during her two months of campaigning.

Well maybe she shouldn’t say stuff like a woman should have to carry the child of her rapist… or Obama is “Paling around with terrorists”, or put crosshairs over Gabby Giffords name.

Sarah Palin and the Tea Party have destroyed the Republican brand, now Republicans look like extremists. She was also one of the most unqualified VP’s in all history. Meanwhile, saying Obama was unqualified and “bad for the country”.

I’m sure she’s a nice woman.. but if you’re going to put yourself in the public eye, critcise people, and make bold and dramatic statements, you should be ready for the backlash.

  • Anonymous

I thought Julianne Moore was so much nicer than Sarah Palin, she never gets condescending or “sassy” like the real Palin. I think they probably did that because then people would have said she was mocking her.

  • Anonymous

You sound absolutely crazy, lol and Julianne Moore is SOOO much more beautiful than Sarah Palin, have you seen Palin lately? She doesn’t look the same. Moore is actually older than Palin by 4 years… and yet she looks younger than Sarah did even 4 years ago.

  • Bogtrotters

Steve Schmidt didn’t seem to think it was a liberal manufacture, and he’s still a Republican.  And you didn’t answer Over_rated’s question.

Julianne Moore is beautiful, lol. She’s also in a ton of great films, How is she ugly inside? What lead you to believe this besides her playing an incredibly non-offensive version of Sarah Palin on an HBo movie? God, you’re so defensive it’s pathetic. Willing to insult people you know nothing about. You’re just a ****ing sheep.

  • Anonymous

Bingo.  The toxic vitriol behind the Obama-Clinton campaign would have made for a great movie.

But, where are the conservative movie producers. They could make a great follow-up movie.

  • Anonymous

You are the poster child for the Pew Research that found Liberals are less tolerant. Defensive much?

You just called a previous poster “absolutely crazy.”

  • Anonymous

You’re calling Moore an Ugly woman, inside and out, when you have nothing to back that up except she played Sarah Palin in a film. Yeah, I’d say that’s defensive. I think you’re sick to say those types of things, I feel bad for even conversing with you, what a disgusting set of principles you have.

Tension between a candidate and a staff in a high pressured campaign is normal and to be expected.  There are so many petty jealousies, because quite often, as is the case with Nicolle Wallace and Steve Schmidt, the staffers think that they are more important than the candidates.  Such was the case in the McCain-Palin campaign of 2008!  Sarah Palin excited the base and became a national celebrity.  The staffers did not know how to handle her, which created tremendous tension and jealousies.  In “Game Change”, both the book and the movie, Wallace and Schmidt got got their revenge.  What is important to remember, however, is that there has never been either a poll or a study that has remotely suggested that Senator McCain would have won the election had he chosen a different running mate!  Not one!  It was President Obamq’s year!  He ran a great campaign, there was Bush fatigue and the financial collapse of Wall Street in September of 2008, was the final nail in the Mccain coffin.  The selection of Sarah excited a lot of people.  It infuriated others.  The ones who were upset by it were not going to vote for a Republican in the first place. Yes, Sarah Palin could have been better prepared for some interviews, but it did not cost McCain the election.  It did, however, get Steve Schmidt a job as a “contributor” on MSNBC.  Nicolle Wallace cannot be far behind.

Media matters must be sending you regular checks, you hit every one of their points perfectly. Every thing you claim is Sarah’s fault has been completely disproved, and Sarah was my Governor and you know nothing about her or Alaska if you think Obama was more qualified. Obama had zero experience as an executive, all he ever did was run for office, so ll we’ve gotten from him is division and constant campaigning. He’s been in re-election mode for over a year. Isn’t it time he actually did a job well? All he has given us is everyone divided up into groups, he divides by income, race, job, union or nonunion, men or women, he divides us all into tiny parts, that is not America, that is Russia. If you knew any history or anything about the world you would worry more about bills being passed than whether someone said something mean or not.

tsk, tsk, tsk.. Considering the extrreme bias and prejudice, not to mention the intolernace and hatred the left in hollywood has for Gov Palin, on top of tha fact that they can use video’s taken out of context to distort and mislead the public, is an all to common readily used tool that Hollywood uses all to often, to promote their leftwing liberal anti-American agenda.

Gov. Palin made many mistakes, but not nearly as many as Obama, thus, it’s the liberal media who uses this tool to manipulate and distort the truth. They do this by controlling and determining what is important and what is not important, as they want the public to see and perceive, in who and where they focus their attention to, and on.

This is how the media can literally destroy someone without evidence. That’s why the far left loves the media apparatus and process. They no longer have any professional journalistic integrity and honor, whatsoever, period. Why, because the radical ideological far left elements are now in control of the media, and because of Obama, the radical-in-chief, they have all but come and said so publically. He is their Fuhrer, and they see their chance to completely destroy America, the US Constitution, Religion, Freedom and Liberty.
