Fashion Mogul Karl Lagerfeld Books Entire Hotel Du Cap

Fashion mogul Karl Lagerfeld, the brain behind Chanel, is well-known for extravagance – it’s what makes him and Chanel attractive to the globe’s biggest spenders. So for yesterday’s Chanel cruise line show, Lagerfeld did what any purveyor of luxury would do: he rented out the entirety of the Hotel Du Cap Eden Roc, one of the world’s most famous and expensive hotels.
Styleite points out that while regular fashion shows are usually on a runway, “cruise collections” happen in the off season, so they can often take place at more interesting locales. In the past, Lagerfeld has put on shows everywhere from St. Tropez to a Santa Monica airport hangar, but the famous hotel in Cap D’Antibes on the French Riviera takes it to a new level.
Rooms at the hotel, which is just a stone’s throw from Cannes, where the annual celeb- and mogul-studded film festival kicks off this week, are in the thousands and upwards for a night’s stay. And drinks at the bar are known to hover in the $50 a glass range. Perhaps when you rent out the whole place you get some kind of bulk deal? Your guess is as good as ours.
Extravagant as renting out the whole hotel may sound, Lagerfeld’s not the first to do it. Bill Clinton rented out the place for a charity event in 2009.
