Pizza and condoms: the weirdest Kate and William products

A new study confirms that, yes, the royal wedding is all anyone can talk about. Prince William and Kate Middleton’s nuptials are now mentioned 9,000 times a day online, the equivalent of once every 10 seconds.
With that in mind, it was only a matter of time until food, media and fashion titans began using the wedding for their own benefit. Of course, products based around the royal family, including china, cookies and posters, have been a big business in the U.K. for decades; but this marriage has inspired some particularly unusual promo campaigns.
Behold: Papa Johns’ new Kate and Will pie. The company’s marketing head says that the pizza “tastes as good as it looks” — unfortunately few will be able to find out if this is true: just one of the pies is being made and it’s being given away in a contest in the U.K.
Gambling site GoldenPalace.com, meanwhile, has its own spin on marriage commemoration: condoms. The online casino will give out a packet of condoms with Kate and William’s portrait on them to anyone who makes a deposit on its site from now until May 6. Golden Casino explains:
[These are] royal rubbers that look as equally at home in your curio cabinet as they do in your medicine cabinet… GoldenPalace.com wants everyone to consummate the Royal Wedding in style. We’re not fooling around, not without a condom.
For what it’s worth, Edinburgh, Scotland businesses sound like they’re getting more carried away by royal wedding fever than any one else. Business owners in the town, where Kate and Will met, are reportedly selling cupcakes printed with the couple’s likeness, as well as a solar-powered Queen Elizabeth II.
