Palin Should Accept Couric’s ‘Open Invitation’ To Appear On Katie

Anchor Katie Couric’s cringe-inducing interview with former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin may have taken place nearly four years ago, but there still seems to be some bad blood between the two leading women. Even so, the television host, whose new daytime show Katie is set to air later this year, would be happy to have the Alaskan make a guest appearance on the program.

“She has an open invitation to come talk to me,” Couric said on Monday, according to the Orlando Sentinel. “I’m not sure she’d be interested, but she’d certainly be welcome. She’s a fascinating figure not only on the political scene but in popular culture.”

Of course, this doesn’t mean she feels bad about the way the interview, which many declared hostile, transpired. Couric continued:

“I have no regrets about that interview. I don’t need a do-over. I’m very proud I was doing my job, and when someone is running for the second highest office in the land, I think it’s important to ask pointed, challenging questions, as I do for all candidates.”

Much time has passed since the tense exchange, and now that the stress of seeking a political position is off Palin’s shoulders (at least for the time being), they should be able to sit down and talk with some ease. Since immersing into the national spotlight, Palin has shown she has a sense of humor and can laugh at herself, so at the very least, they’ll be able to joke about their viral talk, and there’s no question that another sit-down together would make headlines and get outstanding ratings. More than anything, what do either of them have to lose at this point?

Its all about the ratings, Couric knows Sarah Palin is a ratings bonanza, Opra got alot of mileage from Sarah Palin. If I was Sarah I wouldnt do anything for for that hack Couric, after that last edit, cut and paste job interview. Couric is an ego maniac dummy.

Couric, who with her east coast elitist view wondered if those backward Alaskan people know how to, you know, read…   It certainly was an insulting question, but Palin would have been better served to be practiced enough to not feel bad about calling her out on it right then but also still answering the question.    Palin’s history to that point made it clear (to those who bothered to research her) that she did indeed know how to read, which was of course a significant part of the jobs she’d had, especially as Governor.   To think she didn’t answer because there was no answer is naive, her failure to answer was because her reaction was shock at Couric’s rude elitism – which showed a failure on both their parts.
