Palin Should Accept Couric’s ‘Open Invitation’ To Appear On Katie
1:15 pm, May 23rd | by Laura Donovan
Anchor Katie Couric’s cringe-inducing interview with former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin may have taken place nearly four years ago, but there still seems to be some bad blood between the two leading women. Even so, the television host, whose new daytime show Katie is set to air later this year, would be happy to have the Alaskan make a guest appearance on the program.
“She has an open invitation to come talk to me,” Couric said on Monday, according to the Orlando Sentinel. “I’m not sure she’d be interested, but she’d certainly be welcome. She’s a fascinating figure not only on the political scene but in popular culture.”
Of course, this doesn’t mean she feels bad about the way the interview, which many declared hostile, transpired. Couric continued:
“I have no regrets about that interview. I don’t need a do-over. I’m very proud I was doing my job, and when someone is running for the second highest office in the land, I think it’s important to ask pointed, challenging questions, as I do for all candidates.”
Much time has passed since the tense exchange, and now that the stress of seeking a political position is off Palin’s shoulders (at least for the time being), they should be able to sit down and talk with some ease. Since immersing into the national spotlight, Palin has shown she has a sense of humor and can laugh at herself, so at the very least, they’ll be able to joke about their viral talk, and there’s no question that another sit-down together would make headlines and get outstanding ratings. More than anything, what do either of them have to lose at this point?
