Revenge in the Daytime: Zucker’s Back for New Couric Talk Show

Jeff Zucker is back… sort of.

ABC announced today that former “Today” show co-host and more-recently-former host of “CBS Evening News” Katie Couric would be launching a new syndicated talk show on its network, confirming one of the worst-kept secrets in the industry.

Zucker, meanwhile, will produce the show, according to the Hollywood Reporter, reuniting the pair, who had worked together on “Today.” Zucker even marked the occasion by sharing an unwittingly (somewhat) creepy sounding expression of his excitement:

“It was a blast working with Katie at “Today” and I’m excited to do it again. And besides, it should be more fun spending time with Katie at 3 or 4 in the afternoon than at 3 or 4 in the morning.”

Presumably they were working during those wee morning hours and not wrapping up their evenings at the Times Square T.G.I. Fridays like the rest of New York.

We can’t seem to dig up the financial specifics of Zucker’s deal here… although we’re sure something will trickle out in the next day or two.
