Kristen Bell: ’30 Is Really The New 20′

All I know in life is this: if Kristen Bell, the voiceover for “Gossip Girl,” says something, it must be true. That’s why I breathed a huge sigh of relief when the 32-year-old claimed in a new interview that “30 is really the new 20.” Does that mean 20 is the new 15 and it’s OK for me to wear hoodies and jeans everyday? I sure hope so!
The actress, whose new film “The Lifeguard” follows the life of a 30-year-old New York reporter after moving in with her parents and taking back her high school job, told New York that the movie’s main character feels lost and stuck as many 20-somethings do early in their careers:
Feeling the pressure that the world puts on you to define where your adolescence ends and your adulthood begins, yet being completely unsatisfied with where her adulthood is beginning. I think that’s something that a lot of people can relate to, since all the lines are blurred about when you can actually grow up, because 30 is really the new 20. And I think that she has this sense of very revisionist history, that there’s this time in her life where everything was perfect.
Though her onscreen character, who begins seeing a 16-year-old boy (!!!), isn’t too happy about being 30, Bell quite enjoyed the major milestone, but probably because she chose to have a “Hunger Games”-themed bash:
I loved turning 30. Granted, I had a very childish birthday party, so I don’t know if I’ve just been very accepting of the balance between childhood and adulthood. But for my 30th birthday, I themed it like the Hunger Games.
Can’t go wrong with that!
