Why the Kristen Stewart/Lindsay Lohan Friendship is Bad For Both Their Brands

It’s possible that in between all the gay marriage rights and March Madness you didn’t hear the monumental news that Kristen Stewart and Lindsay Lohan have become friends. From The New York Post:
“We have exclusively learned Lohan, who’s refusing to go to court-ordered rehab until after Coachella, is hanging out with the “Twilight” star. A source told us, “They met through one of Lindsay’s friends who also knows Kristen. Lindsay was invited up to Kristen’s house last week, and they hung out with Robert Pattinson, who was back from filming in Australia.”
It’s great that they are BFFs and all, but what does this mean for their brands (which are already both not in great shape)?
Lindsay’s impact on Kristin: Kristen Stewart truly tainted her career when it was revealed that she had an affair with Rupert Sanders who directed her in the film Snow White and the Huntsman. Because not only did it show that she was cheating on her boyfriend, but it put a side of her out there in the media as a womanizing harlot that has no boundaries when it comes to married men that are essentially her boss. Jenni Maier of Crushable wrote:
“Remember that time Kristen Stewart hooked up with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders while dating Robert Pattinson? You probably do because everyone’s framing the rest of her career with that in mind.”
However, unlike Lindsay, Kristen is still on top when it comes to her earnings (she is worth about $70 million) but with the Twilight series over now it will be interesting to see if she will continue to work as much (though she may not want to.)
But a friendship with Lindsay Lohan shows that she is embracing a possible downward spiral. Lindsay’s acting career is basically over. All she does is go to the courthouse and then probation or rehab. Though, unlike Lindsay, Kristen does or at least did care about her reputation considering all the money she spent on revamping it. In November, while promoting the last Twilight film, she spent $40,000 on a more stylish, high fashion wardrobe.
Kristen’s impact on Lindsay: Okay, so Lindsay is not doing great right now. After trying to stage a comeback with a Saturday Night Live hosting gig and her Liz & Dick Lifetime movie (which was abysmal but did well in the ratings) Lindsay has continued to steal, get in car accidents and party and not show up for things. She just accepted a plea deal and will be returning to rehab. But one thing Lindsay has that Kristen doesn’t is a sense of humor. Lindsay is willing to make fun of herself. First at the VMAs, then with SNL and now she is in Scary Movie 5 with Charlie Sheen, playing herself. I feel like she would even be willing to play herself on a TV series a la James Van der Beek on The B in Apartment 23.
Kristen appears to have no sense of humor whatsoever. She always looks depressed and we have never gotten to see her doing anything remotely comical. Kristen should actually take a cue from Lindsay in that sense.
Basically they should probably both go their sepeate ways.
