Lady-Sandwiches: A Photo Essay

Have you ever noticed that pop culture has a certain obsession with both love triangles in fiction and judging panels for televised singing competitions that have only one woman on them at a time? Occasionally this mold gets broken, but even if one more lady is added into the mix there is usually at least one other dude added to balance it out. And in every promotional photo the lone woman (or two women) are always, always sandwiched between dudes. I’m not here to pick on anyone, since some of my favorite properties are guilty of this (what up, The Vampire Diaries!) but for real — what is going on with all of these lady-sandwiches? It’s certainly unbalanced, since the key ingredient in a lady-sandwich is fewer women than men. Check it out:
