Presenting Time Inc.’s (Soon To Be Announced) New CEO: Laura Lang

Time Inc. has recruited a new chief executive: digital advertising honcho Laura Lang.
As of now, Lang is the CEO of Digitas, the major digital ad agency owned by Publicis. Time Inc. is expected to announce the new hire as early as today, The Wall Street Journal reports.
A good idea? It seems like it! As you may perhaps have heard through the grapevine, the publishing industry hasn’t been doing so hot for the past couple of years. Bringing in a digital ad exec to run things then — it seems like a good idea indeed.
Aside from that welcoming smile, Lang’s got a lot to offer — during her tenure at Digitas (she jointed the company in 1999, and worked her way up to CEO in 2008), she opened five new offices, from Brazil to India.
Time Inc.’s last CEO, Jack Griffin, was fired last year due to a clash in management styles. After that, the company undertook a lengthy and scrutinizing search process. Lang came out on top. By the way, she’s not the company’s first woman in charge. According to Ad Week, Time Inc.’s first female CEO was Ann Moore, who retired in 2010.
