You're Not Getting Anything Else Done Today
‘Lazy Day’ Is Today — But Shouldn’t It Be Reserved For The Weekend?
3:00 pm, August 10th | by Laura Donovan
Are you feeling pretty darn unproductive right now? You have a free pass for the rest of the afternoon, as it’s Lazy Day. For just one day, it’s perfectly acceptable to operate at a low speed and maybe even duck out early. It’s a wonder if you’re even at the office today, as it’s Friday and summer in addition to Lazy Day.
Lazy Day may seem perfect to you, but I assure you it’s not, at least this year. There should be a rule that the holiday always falls on a weekend day, if you will, so people can actually have an excuse to indulge in some R&R. Letting it take place on a Friday is downright cruel, as we are all spent from the week anyway and could use some extra encouragement to chillax. Most of us cannot, though, as observed by Corinne at HelloGiggles:
“August 10th is Lazy Day! If I didn’t have anything to do today I would stay in my pajamas, catch up on ‘Pretty Little Liars,’ and finally get around to writing all the things I want to write. A lazy day sounds so good right now!”
Looks like the majority of us will be busy for the next couple of hours, so rather than make the most out of Lazy Day now, let’s just vow to postpone our celebrations until tomorrow…and lobby for Lazy Day to happen on a weekend next year.
