Hiccups: A problem so simple and so irritating you can’t believe no one’s fixed it.
That is, until now. Because 13-year-old Mallory Kievman has the cure — and she’ll sell it to you for a price.
Kievman is the proud inventor of “Hiccupops,” a lollipop made of apple cider vinegar and sugar, which eradicates hiccups. And it really works.
The Connecticut teen was first discovered by local media this winter after her Hiccupops won her area invention convention. Since then she’s partnered with start-up incubator Startup Connecticut and a team of University of Connecticut MBA students, who are helping her get her product off the ground.
Oh yea, and her business was just profiled by the New York Times. In short: She’s way more awesome than any of us.
So how do Hiccupops work? “It triggers a set of nerves in your throat and mouth that are responsible for the hiccup reflex arc,” she told the Times, which makes sense? Way to go, Kievman!
