Oh Good: Marissa Mayer just got her $1.2 Million Bonus Early
3:30 pm, March 7th | by Meredith Lepore
Marissa Mayer has already been having a bad couple of weeks in terms of popularity, what with the ban on working from home and the nursery built in her office, and this latest bit of news is not going to help her. Mayer got a $1.2 million bonus at Yahoo after just under six months there, according to a regulatory filing.
From Mashable:
“Mayer, who joined Yahoo as CEO last July, was eligible for a bonus of up to $2 million if she met certain performance goals. As the company’s 8-K filing states, “Ms. Mayer’s 2012 bonus was pro-rated based on her mid-year date of hire.” As previously reported, Mayer receives a $1 million annual salary, but could earn as much as $50 million in total compensation — including stock options — if she stays on for five years.”
But shareholders are unlikely to protest this considering the company’s stock has risen by 46% since Mayer became the boss due to her revamping of the Yahoo! Mail, its Flickr app, and the homepage. Plus, all that press attention she has received for her dramatic bans on working from home and the nursery in the office helps the company stay in the news.
It will be interesting to see what her employees think of this, especially the ones who have effectively been laid off with the working-from-home ban, and will need to look for different work. $1.2 million would really come in handy in that case!
